Bethany Hagen grew up in Kansas City, which means she loves barbeque and can tolerate jazz for brief amounts of time. She grew up reading Bronte and Austen, practicing kenpo karate, and writing such wonderful epics as The Tale of the Lego Monster and The Flamingo Tales, Vol. 1 (sadly, there was never another volume.) She received her B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Kansas.
She still lives in the Kansas City area with her husband (whom she met while doing karate) and their two toddlers. When she's not working in the public library, she's working on her next black belt or drinking coffee or working her way through the massive piles of unread books in her home. You can find Bethany at her blog or on Twitter.
Bethany is represented by Mollie Glick of Foundry Media. Her debut, LANDRY PARK, will be released by Dial/Penguin in Fall of 2013.
LANDRY PARK, pitched as "Gone with the Nuclear Wind,"is set in a world ruled by the lavish Gentry, who force a people called the Rootless to handle the nuclear material that powers their large estates. When a Gentry girl is attacked, sixteen-year-old Madeline Landry can't escape the rumors of revolution and retribution circulating through the ballrooms--and the city's new golden boy David is at the middle of them. Soon, she finds herself forced to choose between her duty and her desires, her ancestral destiny and her conscience.
