Melissa Landers: ALIENATED

A former military brat, I like to say I grew up everywhere. I graduated from high school in Munich, Germany (Go Mustangs!) and went on to earn a BA in English from Texas State University and a teaching license from East Carolina University. I taught middle school for nine years before "retiring" to write novels, and after residing in eleven different states, I finally abandoned my nomadic lifestyle.

Now I live in the heart of Ohio with my very patient husband--who kindly tolerates my neglect while I'm penning a new book--and our three kids, who aren't so easily placated.

My work is represented by the fabulous Nicole Resciniti of the Seymour agency, and in addition to YA, I write contemporary romance under the pen name Macy Beckett.

About ALIENATED: Broke-as-a-joke valedictorian, Cara Sweeny, just scored Uncle Sam's newest scholarship, but to get the money, she has to spend her senior year hosting a foreign exchange student. Seriously foreign. Extraterrestrial, to be precise. Cara's knocked completely out of orbit when she meets the captivating Aelyx from planet L'eihr, but she has no idea that befriending him (and more) will prompt a national controversy that spins out of control.

Superstition: I'm not a very superstitious person, but for some oddball reason, I always knock on wood.
