Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Nicole McInnes earned her BA in Literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz and her Master's Degree in Creative Writing at Northern Arizona University. She lives in the stunning mountains of Northern Arizona with her kids, horses, dogs and cat. On any given day - when not writing or editing - Nicole can be found teaching university Literature and Writing courses, making soap or judging a horse show. She always heeds the superstition about hanging horseshoes upside down ("U") so the luck doesn't run out (natch). And, hey, what do you know? Where her novel is worked!

Nicole is represented by Stacey Glick of Dystel & Goderich Literary Management. Her Contemporary YA novel, BRIANNA ON THE BRINK, will be released Fall 2013 from Holiday House. Here's what it's about:

Sixteen-year-old Brianna Taylor finds herself lost, alone and pregnant after a one-night-stand (let's just say it's complicated). Just when she's got nowhere left to turn, help arrives from the one person who is closest to her big mistake, but accepting that help will leave Brianna forced to choose between clinging to the ledge of fear and abandonment - or jumping into the unknown where a second chance at hope might just be waiting.
