The 13th Day: Super-Awesome-Bomb-Diggity News!

Some people may think that the number 13 is unlucky, but not those of us at The Lucky 13s!

In fact, we're celebrating the 13th day of each month by featuring all the fabulous stuff that's been happening to The Lucky 13s.

Please raise a glass to our super-awesome-bomb-diggity news....

Imogen Howson's cover for LINKED was revealed (and it left us all swooning!)...

Publisher's Weekly did an article ("Bologna Briefcase: What the Agents are Bringing") about books that agents are trying to push at the upcoming Bologna Fair. There were quite a few Luckies mentioned:

Amie Kaufman (and Meagan Spooner’s) WRECKED
Elsie Chapman's DUALED
Imogen Howson's LINKED
Erin Bowman's TAKEN

Amie Kaufman (and Meagan Spooner's) WRECKED sold in a three book deal in Portugal, to Planeta Manuscrito. Amie will be following her foreign sales tradition and sitting down to a Portuguese feast to celebrate.

Liz Coley's German rights have been negotiated for PRETTY GIRL-13.

T. Michael Martin's THE END GAMES has sold foreign rights in Turkey.

Mindy McGinnis has the lead-off story in an anthology that features a bunch of other writers who hail from AgentQuery Connect. It's currently free on Smashwords and a Kindle version for 0.99 (all our proceeds will be going to charity).

Emily Murdoch sold Dutch and German rights for her book THE PATRON SAINT OF BEANS.

Woo-hoo, Lucky 13s!

Rachele Alpine is represented by Dystel and Goderich and her young adult comtemporary novel CANARY will be published in the summer of 2013 by Medallion Press.

She blogs, or you can find her on Facebook and Goodreads.

  1. Woohoo, congratulations Luckies! x

  2. Mindy's story in the anthology is wonderful. I haven't often read a short story that's so perfect. Everyone should go download the book for her story if nothing else!

Crossing my fingers that the Luckies' foreign rights luck keeps going for the Bologna books!

  3. Oh, awesome, thanks for the mention, Rachele!! Yep, keeping fingers crossed for all Luckys at Bologna. And, Immi, LINKED looks amazing!

  4. How can I read the Bologna Suitcase article?

    1. Hey Lenore! It's a subscription-only PW article, which is probably why we didn't link :( If you happen to have one though, you can read the full piece here: http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/childrens/childrens-industry-news/article/50933-bologna-briefcase-what-the-agents-are-bringing.html

  5. So much good news this month. Congrats all around, Luckies!

  6. This comment has been removed by the author.

  7. Yay, Luckies! Several of our books will get to hang out in Bologna together - woot! (Just wish I could be there to, you know, "personally" represent mine. Love Italy.)

  8. Many congratulations to all! Cheers from me in Western New York!

  9. I don't want to leave anyone out, so, big congratulations to all! So cool, to see names I know.

Everything crossed for ALL the Luckies at Bologna! : )

  10. My book is planning on eating lots of pasta in Bologna. It's on strict instructions not to gain word count, though.
